William “Dan” Seaton departed this life on Wednesday, July 10, at the age of 84 years, 11 months, and 11 days.
Mr. Seaton was born on July 29, 1928, in Itawamba County, Miss., the son of the late Leonard Elbert and Clara Elva McDaniel Seaton. He married Virginia Rudean Curtis on Aug. 9, 1947. They lived in Chicago, Ill.,  from 1951 to 1988. He worked for General Motors, in the Electromotive Division, as an overhead crane operator building trains, where he was a member of the United Automobile Workers. He attended the Bumpus Creek Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed collecting cars and trucks, and loved listening to music.
He is survived by his wife, Virgina Seaton of Savannah; one son, Danny Lowell Seaton and his wife, Margaret, of Savannah; two grandchildren, Gregory Daniel Seaton and his wife, Donna, and Wendy Seaton Gannon and her husband, Gary; four great-grandchildren, Corey Seaton, Joshua Seaton, Hayley Gannon and Tia Gannon; special nephews, Tommy Seaton, Mike Curtis and Edward Alexander Sr., and special niece, Becky Gray.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Garmon Seaton, Leonard Seaton, Elvis “Crickett” Seaton, Billy David Seaton, Franklin D. Seaton; five sisters, Myrtle Alexander, Vera Lewis, Estell Alexander, Francis Seaton and Louise Bean.
Memorials may be given to Hollands Creek United Methodist Church, 2570 Hollands Creek Road, Savannah and Bumpus Creek Freewill Baptist Church, County Road 14, Waterloo, Ala.
Services were held Friday, July 12, at 3 p.m. at Hollands Creek United Methodist Church in Savannah  with Jimmy McGee officiating. Burial followed in the Hollands Creek Cemetery at Hardin County.
