N.C. “Buddy” Paulk
N.C. “Buddy” Paulk of Savannah departed this life on Sunday, July 7, at the age of 88 years and 26 days.
He was born in Hardin County, on June 12, 1925, the son of the late Charlie Elvin and Mary Pearl Hubbard Paulk. On April 28, 1946, he was united in marriage to Verna Mae Daniels, who survives.
Mr. Paulk was inducted into the U.S. Army on November 6, 1943 in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia. He was wounded in battle on January 5, 1945 while serving on his European Theatre, for which he was honored with a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged on March 12, 1946.
He retired from Block Drug Company in Memphis, Tenn. Buddy always enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to play dominoes and bowl.
In addition to his wife of 67 years, Verna Paulk of Savannah, he is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Wilkerson and husband Wayne of Savannah, Diane Henry of Savannah, Wanda Berchem and husband Tom of Powder Springs, Ga.; grandchildren, Jenny Cooper of Southampton, N.J., Melissa Brewer of Selmer, Tenn., Michell Cummings of Savannah, Tina Hudson of Gilmer, Texas, Amanda Smith of Lexington, S.C. and Megan Mitchell of Gaston, S.C.; great-grandchildren,Shelby Froitzheim and Laura Hudson  both of Gilmer, Texas, , Ryan Smith and Matthew Smith both of Lexington, S.C., Zander Mitchell, Marlie Mitchell  and  Duston Mitchell all of Gaston, S.C., Addie Weaver and Charlie Weaver both  of Southampton, N.J., Charlie Weaver of Southampton, N.J., Morgan Brewer of Selmer, Tenn.; brothers Leonard Paulk of Savannah and Lloyd Paulk of Fredericktown, Mo.
In addition to his parents he is also proceded in death  by his brothers, Elvin Paulk, Marvin Paulk and Raymond Paulk.
Services were held on Wednesday, July 10 at 11 a.m. at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Benny Taylor officiating. Burial followed the service in the Memory Gardens in Savannah.
