Lambirth Prince

Lambirth Prince was born on Aug. 14, 1913, in Hardin County, the son of the late Lenord and Maggie Allison Prince. On Feb. 14, 1936, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Yancey Prince and had 69 wonderful years together. She preceded her husband in death July 25, 2005.

Mr. Prince was an avid fisherman, turkey and deer hunter which he loved to do with his only son Ancil. He loved making a big garden to share with family and friends. He worked for Brown Shoe Company as a machinist for 32 years.

Mr. Prince was an active member of the Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church and served as an elder in his early years. He was known as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-great- grandfather. He departed this life on Wednesday, May 22, at the age of 99 years 9 months and 8 days.

He leaves one son, Ancil Prince and his wife Robbie of Savannah; two grandchildren, Daphne Cupples of Savannah and Tracy Prince of Corinth, Miss.; two great-grandchildren, Britney Cupples Jones and husband Tyler of Muscle Shoals, Ala., and Camron Cupples and wife Morgan of Florence, Ala.; three great-great-grandchildren, Hudson Jones, Tate Jones and Max Cupples.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson-in-law, Jeff Cupples; four brothers, Ernest, Granville, Harris, Herbert and Stanford Prince; and two sisters, Lucille McKnight and Bernice Murphy.

Services were held on Saturday, May 25, at 3 p.m., at Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah with Duwayne Pounds officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.
