Marietta Newman

Marietta Ross Newman (Tootsie), 83, of Lago Vista, Texas, died on Tuesday, May 7.

She was born in Savannah, daughter of the late Ted Cecil and Delia Irene Harrison Ross. She was united in marriage to James Alton Newman, who preceded her in death

She was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Alton Newman; and brother, Ted Hardin Ross.

Mrs. Newman volunteered for the Pink Ladies at the local hospital; served on many school committees for her children including being a Brownie and Girl Scout Troop Leader. After her children were grown, she worked as a salesperson and decorator for Goodbar’s Interior Design.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 15, at Shackelford Funeral Home, Savannah. Burial followed in Mount Herman Cemetery, Savannah. Arrangements under the direction of Beck Funeral Home, 1700 E. Whitestone, Cedar Park, Texas.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Ann Newman Kennedy of Lago Vista, Texas; four grandchildren, one great-grandson; sister, Rebecca Ann Sibley; brother, James David (Jimmy) Ross; and many nieces and nephews.
