Myrtle Dowdy, 87, of Savannah, died on Tuesday, April 16.
She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of the late Oscar and Ollie Bryant Simmons.
Mrs. Dowdy had worked at Angelica Manufacturing as an inspector. She was a member of the Olive Hill Baptist Church.
Services were held on Saturday, April 20, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Kyle Wishert officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.
She is survived by her daughters, Mildred Edgin of Charlotte, Tenn., and Pattie Vickery of Savannah; sister, Evelyn Bowling of Olive Hill, Tenn.; brothers, Jack and Billy Simmons, both of Olive Hill; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie K. Dowdy; brothers, Hughie, W.K., James and Joe Simmons; and two grandchildren.
