Willard Tune

Willard T. Tune passed from this life peacefully at home, on Tuesday, March 5, at the age of 86.

He was born Dec. 21, 1926, to the late Johnny and Irla Craven Tune in Hardin County.

On March 23, 1946, he was united in marriage to his beloved wife of 66 years, Mrs. Bonnie “Trixie” Franks Tune who survives.

Mr. Tune was a member of Cherry’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a man of good faith who loved God, his church and his family. For 30 years, Mr. Tune worked as a motor grader operator for the Hardin County Highway Department from which he retired in 1995.

Other than his wife, Bonnie “Trixie” Franks Tune, he is survived by two daughters, Barbara Parker of Waterloo, Ala., and Polly Howard (Charles) of Savannah; grandchildren, Lisa Orrick (Stevie) and Preston Parker (Tara) both of Waterloo, Ala.; Kevin Howard of Savannah and Sabrina Howard (Bobby Williams) of Stantonville, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Ryan Orrick (Emily Burns), Deidre Kelly (Chubby) both of Florence, Ala.; Molly Carmack (Michael) of Fayetteville, N.C.; Morgan and Campbell Parker both of Waterloo, Ala.; Landon Charles and Levi Cannon Howard of Stantonville, Tenn.; great-great grandchildren, Asia Kelly of Florence, Ala., and Maci Sage Carmack of Fayetteville, N.C.; sisters, Louise Reed and Cora Hosea (Joyce) of Savannah, Mervee Benson and Nadine Hinton (Leonard) of Waterloo, Ala., Elizabeth Lyon (Don) of Holly Springs, Miss., Betty Wilson (Jim) of Coldwater, Miss.; half brothers and sisters, Faye Boyette, Karen McGee, Carlene Davis, Ray Tune and Lane Tune, all of Mississippi.

Other than his parents, Mr. Tune was preceded in death by three sisters, Gertie Craig, Olean Shutt and Ann Elizabeth Putt, along with one brother, John D. Tune.

Services were held on Thursday, March 7, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Mr. Don Harold Lawrence, Ryan Orrick officiating. Burial followed in the Cherry Chapel Cemetery at Hardin County.
