Grace Holt

Grace Cagle Holt was born in Hardin County, on Nov. 19, 1917, the daughter of the late Lloyd Hassen and Carrie Turner Cagle. She graduated from Central High School in Savannah in 1935.

She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church in Clifton. Mrs. Holt loved to garden and spend time outdoors. She had a spirit of hospitality and loved to entertain. Mrs. Holt also enjoyed playing cards, scrabble and working crossword puzzles.

On Nov. 18, 1939, she was united in marriage to William Floyd Holt, who passed away on June 3, 1989. From this union three children were born, William Floyd Holt Jr., Lloyd Thomas Holt and Jane Evelyn Holt Warren Smith.

Mrs. Holt departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the age of 95 years, 3 months and 4 days.

She is survived by her children, Billy Holt and his wife Dot of Clifton, Tommy Holt and his wife Becky and Jane Evelyn Smith and her husband Jim, all of Savannah. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Mike Holt and his wife Kim, Mark Holt and his wife Shon, Myles Holt and his wife Kendra, Carol Warren Ellison and her husband David, Robert Warren and his wife Mary, Lori Holt Mitchell and her husband Joey, Janet Holt and Randy Holt; 19 great-grandchildren, Kelly Holt Ivey, Terra Holt, Peyton Holt, Tyler Warren, Jerry Boyd Warren, John David Ellison, Jenna Ellison, William Holt, Madison Holt, Ashley Matlock and her husband Daniel, Mason Mitchell, Kaylie Mitchell, Megan Holt, Rebecca Boykin, Makenzie Holt, Marigrace Holt, Jon-Nathan Holt, Bailey Holt and Clay Holt; three great-great-grandchildren, Jett Ivey, Ace Ivey and Alyanna Holt.

Mrs. Holt is also survived by a very special friend, Janice Nesbitt.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Herman, Robert, Otis, Burnace (Tig) and L. H. Cagle Jr. (Buss); and three sisters, Ruth DeLaney, Ina Kate Blackwelder, Eunice Haggard; and a son-in-law, Jerry Boyd Warren.

Services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with David Baker, Helen Hamilton officiating. Burial followed in the Riverside Cemetery at Clifton.
