Verdie Spears

Verdie Faye Spears, 85, of Crump, died Tuesday, Feb. 5.

She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of Asberry and Mason Lindsey Hutchens, who preceded her in death. She married John Spears, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Spears had worked for the Dillon Manufacturing Company as an inspector. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Crump.

Services were held on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with James "Buck" Hopper officiating. Burial followed in the Crump Cemetery.

She is survived by a daughter, Wanda Kimberland of Savannah; two sons, Larry Spears of Savannah and Eddie Spears of Crump; two sisters, Dorothy (Dot) Green and Buleah Frances Bashier, both of Crump; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by one son, James C. Spears; and one sister, Audrey Templeton Robbins.
