Cecil Furrow

Cecil Wayne Furrow was born on April 28, 1940, in Newport, Va., to Clarence William Furrow, who preceded him in death, and Minnie White Furrow. He married Doris Faye Richards on Aug. 28, 1971.

In addition to residing in Adamsville, he also lived in Crump, Pradenton, Fla., DunDee, Ill., and Boling Brook, Ill. Cecil worked for the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department, and worked for Palumbo as an operator engineer of heavy equipment. He also served as police chief for Pembrook, Va. He was a Moose Lodge member for over 40 years and a member of the Association of American Retired Persons, Fraternal Order of Police and the National Rifle Association. He loved music, painting, and being with people.

Cecil departed this life on Sunday, Dec. 16, at the age of 72 years, 7 months, and 18 days.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Furrow of Adamsville; stepson, Carl Edward Richards, and his wife, Rhonda of Dyersburg, Tenn.; mother, Minnie White Furrow of Virginia; brother, Michael Furrow of Virginia; granddaughter, Brittany Danielle Richards.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 20, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with W.D. McCollum officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.
