Irene Barrier (11-18-12) service 11-21-12

Irene Barrier, 91, of Savannah, died on Sunday, Nov. 18.

She was born in Lauderdale County, Ala., the daughter of the late Harvey Lee and Ida Webb Franklin. She was united in marriage to Herman D. Barrier, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Barrier was a member of the Walnut Grove Church of Christ.

Services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with David Dowdy and Jimmy McGee officiating. Burial followed in the Hollands Creek Cemetery at Hardin County.

She is survived by her children, Ruby Sandusky, Lula "Belle" Corley, Franklin "Sonny" Barrier, Ruth "Poly" Trivett, Diane Austin, Ronnie Barrier, all of Savannah, Jerry "Joe" Barrier of South Bend, Ind., Roy Barrier of Mishawaka, Ind., Herman Barrier Jr. and wife Joyce of Mishawaka, Ind., David Cossey of South Carolina; 26 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 31 great-great -grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Adkins of Tyler, Texas; brothers, H.L. Franklin of Dallas, Texas, Joel Franklin of Kemp, Texas and Larry Franklin of Malakoff, Texas.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Eugene, Webb, Charles, Jesse and Mack Franklin; sisters, Maxene Franklin and Paulene Harville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
