Dovie Rushing Dovie Almira Briley Rushing, 97, of Savannah, died Monday, Nov. 19, at her home. She was born in Nixon, the only daughter of the late Joseph and Minerva Briley. Mrs. Rushing was a founding member of the Sweetwater Assembly of God. She is survived by three children, Thamer Rushing of Mooresville, Miss.; Gail Hammonds of Decatur, Tenn.; Terry Rushing of Sweetwater, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Services were held at Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Savannah, on Friday, Nov. 23. Burial followed in Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery. She was also preceded in death by her seven older brothers; and oldest daughter, Bonnie Montague.
