Nell Garrett Gammill, 100, of Savannah, died Sunday, Oct. 28.
She was born in Hardin County, in the Nixon community, to the late Joel Foster and Ida Belle Austin Garrett. She was united in marriage to Archie Gammill, who preceded her in death.
Nell owned and operated Gammill’s Grocery Store for many years. She was a member of Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Services were held on Thursday, Nov. 1, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Jim Wright officiating. Burial followed in the Wesley’s Chapel Church Cemetery at Savannah.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Melonas of Cordova, Tenn., and Charlotte Gammill of Savannah; and a granddaughter.
She is also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Worley.
