Geraldine Benson

Geraldine Benson was born in Hardin County, on March 16, 1949, the daughter of the late Bud and Venus Harville.

Geraldine was united in marriage to Calvin Ray Benson, who preceded his wife in death on July 4, 2012.

She was a homemaker and also had worked for Garan Inc. for 20 years, Brown Shoe for 10 years, U.S. Classic for 10 years and was a CNA at Tri County Nursing Home for two years. Geraldine lived in the Savannah area for 40 years and Adamsville area for 25 years. She attended Good Hope Baptist Church and also Faith Pointe Church. Geraldine loved her family and friends. She especially loved Christmas time where she was just like a kid. One thing Geraldine could not do was keep secrets.

She departed this life on Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Adamsville, at the age of 63 years, 6 months and 16 days.

Geraldine is survived by one son, Leon Benson of Adamsville; and one daughter, Sharla Stephens of Adamsville; four grandchildren, Shayna Nicole Benson, Nathan Kyle Benson, Bo Neal Stephens and Derek Ray Stephens; three sisters, Brenda Hobbs of McMinnville, Tenn., Annette Mathews of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Mary Gail Pickens of Savannah; two brothers, Wilbert Harville of Savannah and Doyle Harville of Stantonville, Tenn.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Geraldine was also preceded in death by one niece, Katrina Carol Umphrey.

Services were held on Thursday, Oct. 4, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Billy White, Nichlos Harville officiating. Burial followed in the Neill Cemetery at Savannah.
