Betty Carlock (8-28-12) service 8-30-12

Betty Jane Thompson Carlock was born in Savannah, on Feb. 11, 1936, the daughter of the late James Albert and Mary Inez Wood Thompson.

On Sept. 1, 1957, she was united in marriage to Herbert William Carlock Jr., who preceded his wife in death on Aug. 27, 1998.

Betty was a retired bookkeeper for various accounting firms. She was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah.

Betty departed this life on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Harmony Hills Assisted Living in Huntingdon, Tenn., at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 17 days.

She is survived by her two sons, Lieutenant Commander Herbert William Carlock III, United States Navy retired and his wife Deanna of San Diego, Calif. and Rev. Dr. Jon Thompson Carlock and his wife Myra of McKenzie, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Andrew Thompson Carlock and Herbert William Carlock IV, both of San Diego, Calif.

Services were held on Thursday, Aug. 30, at 7 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Rev. Mary Benedict, Rev. Frank Ward officiating. Burial followed in the Savannah Cemetery at Savannah.
