Gene Johnson

Gene E. Johnson, 80, of Savannah, died Saturday, Aug. 25.

He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Robert Jefferson and Cynthia Cherry Johnson. He was united in marriage to Betty Conner, who survives.

From 1952–1956 Mr. Johnson served in the US Air Force. He retired from Hardin Farmers Co-op after 20 years of employment.

A graveside service was held on Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Memory Gardens in Savannah with Westley Hazel officiating.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Conner Johnson of Savannah; sisters, Nell Hardy of Savannah, Patsy Murphy of Clanton, Ala. and Betty Hartung of Muscle Shoals, Ala.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Kate Tune; brothers, Gordon and Lane Johnson.
