Cova Robbins

Cova M. Robbins, 88, of Savannah, died Friday, Aug. 24.

He was born in Wayne County, the son of the late Joe Thomas and Carrie Maybelle Murphy Robbins. He was united in marriage to Gladys Stricklin, who preceded him in death.

Cova served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a farmer. He was also a minister and pastored many churches from 1947 to 2003.

Services were held on Sunday, Aug. 26, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with J. P. Gillis, Mark Hatley, Marvin Morrow officiating. Burial followed in the Lutts Cemetery at Lutts, Tenn.

He is survived by one daughter, Joyce Riley of Clifton; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Robbins of Iron City, Tenn.; and six sisters, Selma Newton, Charlene Davis and Kathleen Foust, all of Savannah, Velma Smith of Collinwood, Jewelean Holt of Muscle Shoals, Ala. and Emogene Moore of Florence, Ala.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Waco Robbins.
