Maymie Allison

Maymie Stricklin Allison was born in Hardin County, on July 9, 1928, the daughter of the late Will and Myrtle Wilkerson Baugus.

On Feb. 13, 1949, she was united in marriage to M.C. Stricklin, who preceded his wife in death on June 1, 1990. On Aug. 31, 1991, she was united in marriage to Hoover Allison, who preceded her in death in November of 2002.

Maymie was an attendant for Burnt Church Convenience Center. She also had worked for Wise Company, Brown Shoe Company for 30 years and had worked for Angelica. Maymie was a member of Big Ivy Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Big Ivy F.C.E. Club and was a Farm Bureau Lady. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and decorating.

Maymie departed this life on Thursday, July 19, in Florence, Ala., at the age of 84 years and 10 days.

She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Rose of Savannah; one step-daughter, Linda Allison and her husband Lonnie of Florence, Ala.; two grandchildren, Melanie Rose Tillman and her husband Jeremy of Sugarland, Texas and Derek Rose of Huntsville, Ala.; one step grandchild, Kayla Folkwein and her husband John of Florence, Ala.; one step great-grandchild; one sister, Gwendolyn Neill and her husband Mancil of Savannah. Maymie is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Richard Rose; two sisters, Clemmie Wilkerson and Willie Franks; and seven brothers, Laudis, Joe, Elva, Herman, Boyd, Demps and Billy Baugus.

Services were held Sunday, July 22, at 3 p.m., in the Shackelford Chapel with Howard Rogers and Eric Jones officiating. Burial was in Sunny Hill Cemetery.
