James Hyde

James Franklin Hyde, 77, of Savannah, died Thursday, July 19, in Savannah.

He was born in Lauderdale County, Tenn., the son of the late Marshall Neal Hyde and Clorse Stanfield Carpenter. He was united in marriage to Pat Harville, who survives.

Mr. Hyde retired from General Motors Corporation. He served his country during the Korean War while serving in the United States Army. James was also owner of Hyde Trucking from 1988 to 2003. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union.

Services were held on Monday, July 23, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Danny Parker officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.

In addition to his wife, Pat of Savannah, he is survived by two sons, Bobby Hyde of Redmond, Ore. and Don Hyde of Joliet, Ill.; three daughters, Kay Schenk of Lockport, Ill., Holly Tacker of Stantonville, Tenn. and Heather Hansing of Savannah; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Marcus Hyde of Tampa, Fla.; and one sister, Ersell Hardy of Ripley, Tenn.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Wright, Adell Warren and Louise Hyde; and one brother, Roger Hyde.
