Fannie Austin Fannie Kate Austin, 77, of Florence, Ala., died Monday, June 11, at Glenwood Healthcare in Florence, Ala. She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of the late Millard Cecil and Mamie Ellen Barrier Smith. She was united in marriage to Eldridge Allen Austin Jr., who preceded her in death. Mrs. Austin retired after 20 years as a CNA from Hardin Medical Center. She was a member of Holland’s Creek Methodist Church. Services were held on Wednesday, June 13, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Don Harold Lawrence officiating. Burial followed in the Hollands Creek Cemetery at Hardin County. She is survived by her children, Brenda Austin of Florence, Ala., Rodger Austin of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Michelle Jones of Savannah; and five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce White of Savannah; and her brother, Hassel Smith of Central, Ala.
