Elene Franks

Elene Harville Franks was born Oct. 25, 1926, in Hardin County, the daughter of the late James Carl and Anne Murphy Harville.

Mrs. Franks worked at Park Rest, Hardin County General Hospital, and Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home. She was a good person who would help anyone.

Mrs. Franks departed this life on Thursday, April 19, in Savannah, at the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 25 days.

She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Berry and her husband Sonny of Florence, Ala., Joyce Hunter of Los Angeles, Calif.; four sons, Ottie Ray Franks and his wife Betty of Savannah, James Carl (J.C.) Franks and his wife Betty of Savannah, Danny Franks and his wife Judy of Savannah, Rex Franks and his wife Tina of Savannah; a brother, Ottis Harville; five sisters, Velma Haynes, Frances Harmon, Bobby Aleva, Connie Steward, Linda Reed; a daughter-in-law, Carol Franks; 24 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her former husband, Arthur Daniel Franks, Mrs. Franks was preceded in death by one son, Marvin Malachi Franks; one son-in-law, James Hunter; a sister, Pauline Stricklin; and one brother, Harvey Harville.

Services were held on Saturday, April 21, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Marvin Norris officiating. Burial followed in the Ward’s Cemetery at Hardin County.
