Dorothy Tatum

Dorothy J. Tatum, 85, of Savannah, died Friday, March 29.

She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of the late Robert L. Stephens and Earline Jordan Stephens. She was united in marriage to James L. Tatum, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Tatum worked for Attorney E.W. & Mrs. Catherine Ross as a personal companion. She attended Love Tabernacle Church of God in Christ where she was a member of the Mother’s Board of the church, worked in the ministry of HELPS.

Services were held on Saturday, April 7, at Love Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Savannah with Charles Daniels, Cleophas Cherry officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Knox of Cleveland, Ohio; Diane Tatum of Savannah; one son, Mitchell Tatum of Nashville; four sisters, Martha Hawkins of Paducah, Ky.; Barbara Flowers and Doris Horton both of Cleveland, Ohio; Mattie Kendall of Dallas, Ga.; three brothers, Theodore Stephens of Gary, Ind.; Roger Stephens of Merrillville, Ind.; Mark Stephens of Nashville; 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Michaell L. Tatum; two sisters, Maxine Dixon and Annie Jo Hubbard; one brother, Robert Lee Stephens.
