Billy Neal Newsom, 76, of Savannah, died Tuesday, March 20.
He was born in Jacks Creek, the son of the late William Jordan and Daisy Melton Newsom. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Fisher, who survives.
Mr. Newsom was a retired truck driver and a member of the Savannah Church of God. He had done volunteer work for the RHEEMA Shelter in Savannah.
Services were held on Wednesday, March 28, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Jimmy Newsom, Mark Hatley officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Newsom of Savannah; four daughters, Nancy Cupples of Oakfield, Tenn., Angela Mewborn of Jackson, Tenn., Amy Newsom of Henderson, Tenn. and Amanda Patterson Franks of Savannah; three stepsons, Dwight Patterson of Lexington, Tenn., Jimmy Patterson of Saltillo and Timmy Patterson of Sardis; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jo Willis of Henderson, Tenn.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Alma Lou Newsom Kennedy; a grandchild, a great-grandchild; three brothers, J.R., Carroll and Clyde Newsom.
