Maudie Guffee

Maudie Melson Guffee, 82, of Savannah, died Friday, March 9.

She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of the late Jess Morgan and Cora Brown Bonee. She was united in marriage to Eureka Melson, who preceded his wife in death. Later she was united in marriage to Larry Guffee, who survives.

Mrs. Guffee worked as a cook and bus driver for the Hardin County Board of Education and she also had worked for WKWX Sunday Down South. She was also a commerical fisherman for many years. She was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church and was also a member of Woodmen of the World.

Services were held on Sunday, March 11, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Tony Polk, Artie Rivers officiating. Burial followed in the Mount Hermon Cemetery at Hardin County.

In addition to her husband Larry of Savannah, she is survived by five daughters, Gail Hosea, Patsy Cornelius, Glenda Whitlow, Jane Haggard and Debbie Blackwelder, all of Savannah; one son, Ricky Melson of Savannah; one stepson, Ron Guffee of California; three step-daughters, Sherry Plasse of California, Janet Wright of Indiana and Linda Burner of Alabama; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; 8 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Turner of Savannah.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Bob Bonee.
