Mickey Mills

Elizabeth (Mickey) Barlow Mills, 91, of Milan, Tenn., formerly of Memphis, died Friday, Feb. 17.

She was born Jan. 26, 1921, to the late Ether and Minnie Counce Barlow in Hardin County, Tenn.

Mrs. Mills was retired from the Internal Revenue Service.

She was an avid gardener, and her yard was awarded "Yard of the Month" for several years by the Kirby Woods Garden Club in Memphis. She was also a member of the West Tennessee Historical Society.

She is survived by her her husband of 71 years, James DeVaughn Mills, to whom she was married April 6, 1940; one son, Dr. James B. Mills and wife Deborah of Milan, Tenn., a daughter, Charlotte Mills Hammack of Murray, Ky.; five grandchildren, Amanda Hammack Crain of Marion Ark., James W. Hammack III of Murray, Ky., Jennifer Mills Pickett of Nashsville, James Mills of Nashville, and Meredith Mills of Nashville; two great-grandchildren, Wallace Crain and Margaret Crain; a sister, Dorothy Barlow Moore of Midland, Texas, a brother-in-law, Robert L. Mills and wife Louise of Memphis, and a sister-in-law, Joan Mills Campbell of Birmingham, Ala.

She was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters, a son, John David Mills, and a son-in-law, Dr. James W. Hammack Jr.

The funeral was at Bodkin Funeral Home, Milan, Tenn., on Sunday, Feb. 19.
