Virginia Nell Haynes (1-16-12) service 1-18-12

Virginia Nell Haynes, 70, of Savannah, died Monday, Jan. 16.

She was born in Jackson County, Ala., the daughter of the late Hubert and Verdie Hutton Lambert.

Mrs. Haynes was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ. She had owned and operated Haynes Grocery for 22 years. Mrs. Haynes was involved in charity work for the Walnut Grove School, a substitute teacher and had also been a basketball coach.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, Jan 18, at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Hardin County with Gilbert Gough officiating.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Kelsoe of Cherokee, Ala. and Sissy Dean of Tuscumbia, Ala.; brothers, Jack Lambert of Alabama, Rayburn, Tommy, Alton, Mac and Jimmy Lambert, all of Savannah; sisters, Geneva Watson and Huberta Allen, both of Savannah and Linda Graves of Flint, Mich.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Haynes; a brother, Charles Lambert; and sister, Lou Hazel Allen.
