Mary Neill

Mary Ellen Irvin Neill was born June 18, 1931, in Hardin County, the daughter of the late Thomas Luther and Grace Lee Harrison Irvin.

She was united in marriage to Hugh Douglas Neill on May 31, 1958. Mr. Neill preceded her in death on May 21, 1987.

Mrs. Neill had worked for the Hardin County Board of Education as a cafeteria manager from 1987-2003. She had also worked for Savannah Manufacturing and Brown Shoe Company. She loved to sew, crochet and read. Mrs. Neill was a member of the Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Neill departed this life on Friday, Oct. 28, at the age of 80 years, 4 months, 10 days.

She is survived by a daughter, June Cook and husband Allen of Savannah; two sons, Tommy Neill and wife Nancy of Red Bay, Ala., Jimmy G. Neill and wife Paige of Savannah; five grandchildren, April Hall, Jamie Cook, Celena Bain, Sara Lindsey and Seth Lindsey; three great-grandchildren, Keeley Hall, Adalyn Kounelis, and Makinley Lindsey; a brother, Willie Ray Irvin of Savannah.

Services were held on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 1:30 p.m., at Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah with Duwayne Pounds officiating. Burial followed in the Neill Cemetery at Savannah.
