Donald Hinds

Donald Dale Hinds was born Jan. 23, 1939, in Springfield, Ill., the son of the late George Fred and Clea Eileen Febus Hinds.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hinds was preceded in death by grandparents, Donald and Clea Febus, and Sam and Ollie Hinds; brother, Kenneth Fred Hinds; grandchildren, Donovan Hinds, ShaVawn Langdon and Stanley Morgan Jr.; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Hinds departed this life Saturday, Oct. 29, at his home after a long illness at the age of 72 years, 9 months, 6 days.

Donald served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he received numerous awards including the Purple Heart medal. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was always looking forward to taking long trips. As an avid bowler, he was willing to travel a long distance for a competition.

On July 8, 1988, he was married to Kay Lawinsky, who survives. Mr. Hinds was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Waynesboro.

He is survived by his wife Kay L. Hinds of Olive Hill; children, Tamara Langdon of Glenpool, Okla., Cindy Caldwell and husband Joe of Okmulgee, Okla., Angie Weber and husband Richard of Enterprise, Kan., and Donnie Hinds Jr. and wife Janice of Newalla, Okla.; step-children, Tammy Kay Yarbrough of Sardis, Allen Dale Morgan Jr. of Palmersville, Tenn. and Stanley E. Morgan and wife Sandy of Clarksville, Tenn.; three sisters, Karen Walsh and husband Roger of Florida, Jackie Riggs and husband Larry of Lincoln, Ill., Debra Jones and husband Dallas of Lincoln, Ill.; grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Jenny, Art, Joe Dale, Jinell, Tasha, Nolan, Megan, Jenna, Jared, Preston, Patrick, Kelli Kay, Kristina, Peanut, Trey, Lindsey and Robert; 16 great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Waynesboro with John Johnston officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Overbrook Cemetery near Adamsville, with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 4, 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m.

Pall bearers are Jason Anderson, Slim Smith, Barney Bowers, Doug Brown, Larry Riggs and Alton Asher.
