Ruth Finley

Ruth Finley was born in Sardis, Tenn., on Nov. 3, 1929, the daughter of the late Charlie and Nancy Elizabeth Jones Austin.

She was united in marriage to Blaine Finley, who preceded his wife in death.

Mrs. Finley was a retired housekeeper for Lexington Manor. She was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church and she was active with the Sardis Senior Citizens Center.

Mrs. Finely departed this life on Monday, Sept. 5, in Adamsville, at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 2 days.

She is survived by three sons, Larry Finley and wife Charolett of Saltillo, Jerry Finley and wife Julie of Saltillo, and Terry Finley and wife Sheila of Bath Springs, Tenn.; two daughters, Teresa Piwonka and husband Anthony of Houston, Texas and Lesa Finley of Reagan, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, David, Laura, Daryl, Bobby, Cortney, Lane, Jamison, Travis and Jonathan; two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Taylor; one sister, Reba Tomblin and husband Odell of Avon Park, Fla.

In addition to her parents and her husband she was also preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Burrow; five brothers, Walter, Grady, Cleveland (Tib), Lec and Elvis Austin; and one grandchild, Brittany Hancock.

Services were held on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Phillip Bridges officiating. Burial followed in the Prospect Cemetery at Sardis, Tenn.
