Christian Huckabee

Christian Hunter Huckabee was born Nov. 6, 1993, in Jackson, Tenn., the son of Jeff Helton and Bethany Huckabee Bridges.

Hunter was a Senior honor student at McNairy Central High School. He was also enrolled in a welding class at Adamsville High School to prepare for a career in welding after graduation. Hunter was mechanically inclined, and could fix almost anything, including his friends’ cars. He loved being outdoors, going mudding and riding his four-wheeler. Hunter had played percussion in the Selmer Middle School Band, and enjoyed hunting when he could. He had a big heart, and would help anyone in need. Hunter was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.

Hunter departed this life on Tuesday, Aug. 23, in Selmer, at the age of 17 years, 9 months, 17 days.

He is survived by his mother, Bethany Huckabee Bridges and husband Shane of Corinth, Miss.; his father, Jeff Helton and wife Pansy of Iuka, Miss.; a half-sister, Carmon Helton of Iuka, Miss.; two step-brothers, Allen Michael Bridges of Tishomingo, Miss. and Nathan Hannah of Iuka, Miss.; a step-sister, Bethany Hannah of Iuka, Miss.; maternal grandfather Bradley Huckabee and wife Yvonne of Selmer; maternal grandmother Jo Ellen Campion and husband Joe of Selmer; paternal grandfather James Helton of Iuka, Miss.; two uncles, Wade Huckabee and wife Theresa and Blake Huckabee, all of Selmer; three aunts, Brandi Dixon and husband Opie of Selmer, Holly Daniel of Franklin, Tenn. and Heather James of Tuscumbia, Ala.; four cousins, Josh Huckabee of Hornsby, Tenn., Justin Huckabee, Anthony Campion, and Peyton Dixon, all of Selmer; and a host of extended family and friends.

Hunter was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Betty Helton.

Services were held on Friday, Aug. 26, at 4 p.m., at Lakeview Baptist Church in Selmer with Harold King and Clint Overton officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Selmer.

Memorial contributions in memory of Hunter may be made to the Hunter Huckabee Memorial Welding Scholarship, in care of Adamsville High School in Adamsville, Tenn.
