Mabel Katherine Wolfe Callens, 95, formerly of Savannah, passed away on Friday, Aug. 19, peacefully at her home in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Joe and Lura Wolfe and seven brothers: J.C., Raymond, Robert, Jamie, Dan, Herman and Frank Wolfe.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years: Pastor Hugh Callens, the great joy of her life; a son: Hugh Callens Jr., of Murfreesboro; a granddaughter: Vanessa (John) Massey; brother: Archie Wolfe of Savannah; two sisters: Ann (Robert) Bohler of Athens, Ga. and Helen (Gerald) Noffsinger of Murfreesboro; sisters-in-laws: Edna Earl Wolfe and Sally Wolfe, both of Savannah; numerous beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Mabel was a devoted member of the Baptist Church where she taught numerous Sunday school classes, Bible studies and was a wonderful partner in ministry to her husband. She loved God and was always eager to tell people about her faith. Mabel was an accomplished seamstress and known for her abundant gardens which she not only shared but put to use with her great cooking skills. She enjoyed many hours cheering for the Atlanta Braves and delighted in their wins. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed enough to be a part of her life.

A memorial service will be held in Savannah, at Hopewell Baptist Church on Saturday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m., with visitation at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memphis Union Mission or a charity of your choice.

Cremation Society of Tennessee, 3011 Harrah Dr., Spring Hill, TN is assisting the family with their services.
