Wayne Plunkett

Wayne Plunkett was born Dec. 24, 1946, in Red Bay, Ala., the son of William Herman and Nellogean Randolph Plunkett.

He was united in marriage to Cyndy Darnell Roberts on March 27, 1972. Mrs. Plunkett preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 2011.

Mr. Plunkett was a resident of Hardin County for 32 years. He was a farmer and the owner of Savannah Body Shop. He was a member of Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church, F&AM Masonic Lodge 102 in Savannah, NRA, Scottish Rite in Corinth, Miss. and AL Chymia in Memphis. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, knife making, trading equipment, cooking catfish, motorcycle riding, playing guitar and singing. He loved his grandchildren.

Mr. Plunkett departed this life on Saturday, July 30, at the age of 64 years, 7 months, 6 days.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by three daughters, Cissy Presley of Savannah, Jackie Carmichael of Jackson, Tenn., Cindy Harrison of Grand Junction, Colo.; two sons, Mark Plunkett of Savannah, Billy Carmichael of Grand Junction, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Jesica Plunkett, Jacob Plunkett, Brandy Plunkett, Caleb Oliver, Preston Wilson, Cyndell Harrison, Darrell Harrison, Taylor Plunkett; six brothers, Tom Plunkett of Savannah, Ronnie Plunkett of Garfield, Ark., Donnie Plunkett of Amory, Miss., Rickey Plunkett of Mooreville, Miss., Mickey Plunkett of Evergreen, Miss., Tony Plunkett of Amory, Miss.; three sisters, Brenda Faughn of Forest City, Ark., Linda Clardy of Tupelo, Miss., Nell Adkins of Ozark, Ark.; grandfather, Callop Barrett of Fulton, Miss.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Plunkett was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Plunkett.

Services were held on Monday, Aug. 1, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Paul Childers officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.
