J.L. Cummings

J.L. Cummings, 86, of Savannah, died Wednesday, June 15, in Savannah.

He was born in Savannah, the son of the late James Lawson and Mary Blanch Adams Cummings. He was united in marriage to Jessie Mae Middleton, who survives.

Mr. Cummings was a member of the Olive Hill Community. He had been employed with Brown Shoe Company, Lowe Saw Mill, and the Paper Mill. He had also been self-employed buying and selling small machinery.

Services were held on Friday, June 17, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Ronnie Sanders officiating. Burial followed in the Smith Cemetery at Hardin County.

In addition to his wife, Jessie Mae Middleton Cummings of Savannah, he is survived by three daughters, Judy Neill, Betty Wilson, Sheila Collier, all of Savannah; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma Doyle and Blanche Burgess both of Savannah.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Cummings; and his brother, Douglas Cummings.
