Eldridge Austin Jr. (5-31-11) services 6-2-11

Eldridge Austin Jr., 79, of Florence, Ala., died Tuesday, May 31, in Florence, Ala.

He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Eldridge Allen Austin Sr. and Emma Lee Patterson Austin. He was united in marriage to Fannie Kate Smith, who survives.

Mr. Austin retired from Briggs in Corinth, Miss., where he worked in coffee sales. He also worked for ARA Services in Murfreesboro, Tenn., for 20 years. He was a member of Hollands Creek Methodist Church.

Services were held on Thursday, June 2, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Don Harold Lawrence officiating. Burial followed in the Hollands Creek Cemetery at Hardin County, Tennessee

In addition to his wife, Fannie Kate Austin of Florence, Ala., he is survived by two daughters, Brenda Austin of Florence, Ala. and Michelle Jones of Savannah; one son, Rodger Austin of Murfreesboro; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one sister, Patsy Holcombe of Savannah; and two brothers, Ancil of Bartlett, Tenn. and Grady Austin of Flagstaff, Ariz.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Frank Austin.
