Gene Phillips

Eugene T. "Gene" Phillips, 78, of Adamsville, died Saturday, May 14, at McNairy Regional Hospital, Selmer.

He was the son of the late Ollie and Eudene McArthur Phillips. He was united in marriage to Patricia Holloway, who survives.

Mr. Phillips was a retired diesel mechanic. He was a member of Landmark Pentecostal Church in Stantonville, Tenn. and a U.S. Army Veteran.

Services were held Tuesday, May 17, at Landmark Pentecostal Church, Stantonville, Tenn., with Darrell Moffett officiating. Burial was in Ruth’s Chapel Cemetery, Vidalia, Ga. Arrangements by Shackelford Funeral Directors, Selmer.

In addition to his wife Patricia Phillips of Adamsville, he is survived by three daughters, Donna Bell of McRae, Ga., Kandy McGuire and husband Darren of Savannah, Carol Willis of Savannah; five sons, Danny Phillips of Savannah, Tony Phillips and wife Veronica of Moultrie, Ga., Terry Phillips and wife Kim of Dublin, Ga., Keith Phillips and wife Amy of Abbeville, La. and Ray Collier of Adamsville; two sisters, Elouise Anderson and husband Bob of Rockford, Ill. and Bertha Dobbs and husband Bob of North Carolina; two brothers, Rudolph Phillips of Vidalia, Ga., and Johnny Phillips and wife Sandra of Gadsden, Ala.; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, one step great-grandson.

He was also preceded in death by a son, David Phillips; a sister, Hazel Sharpe and a step granddaughter.
