James Choate James F. Choate, 73, of Michie, died Saturday, May 7, in Tupelo, Miss. He was born in Marked Tree, Ark., the son of the late Clarence Leo and Louise Doty Choate. He was united in marriage to Betty Wallin, who survives. Mr. Choate worked as a pipefitter, in the woodyard and then as maintenance supervisor for the Packaging Corporation of America in Counce. He retired after 35 years of service. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 9, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer. Burial followed in the Michie Cemetery at Michie, Tenn. He is survived by his wife Betty Choate of Michie; two sons, Brian K. Choate of Michie, David Choate of Humble, Texas; a sister, Cathy Birchfield of Weir, Miss.; six grandchildren, a great-grandchild. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Garey and Kay Hodges.
