Kathleen Pollard

Kathleen Pollard was born in Hardin County, on May 8, 1921, the daughter of the late Harold Cherry and Ellen Hill Seaton Franks.

On Aug. 18, 1945, she was united in marriage to Ottis Sherman Pollard Sr., who preceded his wife in death on Sept. 21, 1976.

Mrs. Pollard was a school teacher. She taught at Cherry’s Chapel School, White’s Elementary and Walnut Grove Elementary. She was a member of Cherry’s Chapel Methodist Church, Farm Bureau and was a member of Hardin County Teacher’s Association. She loved being outdoors and tending to her cattle. Mrs. Pollard enjoyed quilting, doll collecting, gardening and she enjoyed collecting books.

She departed this life on April 18, in Florence, Ala., at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 10 days.

Mrs. Pollard is survived by two daughters, Jeanna Cole and her husband Larry of Waterloo, Ala. and Janie Stewart and her husband Dan of Savannah; two sons, Ottie Sherman Pollard Jr. and his wife Nancy of Tennessee Ridge, Tenn. and Johnny Harrell Pollard and his wife Judy of Savannah; 10 grandchildren, Darrell Cole, Laura Haddock, Joel Cole, Leigh Anne Halliburton, Matthew Pollard, Anita Brown, Michael Stewart, Charles Stewart, Emily Patterson and Derrick Pollard; 12 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Pollard was also preceded in death by one sister, Ina Lou Prince; two brothers, James Gordon and Quentin Franks; one grandchild, Mark Cole; and one nephew, Steve Prince.

Services will be held on Thursday, April 21, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Derrick Pollard, Mr. Don Harold Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in the Hollands Creek Cemetery at Hardin County, Tenn.

Memorial donations may be made to Cherry Cemetery Fund or Holland’s Creek Cemetery Fund.
