Claiborne Wells

Claiborne Wells, 85, of Milledgeville, died Tuesday, April 12.

He was born in Davidson County, Tenn., the son of the late Claiborne Franklin Wells Sr. and Beulah Campbell Wells. He was united in marriage to Geraldine Kennell Wells and then to Wilma Bridges Wells; both preceded him in death. He was later united in marriage to Marie Rickman Essary, who survives.

Mr. Wells retired from Wells Culvert Company after 25 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran of 26-1/2 years. He was a member of Franklin United Methodist Church in Franklin, Tenn.

Services were held on Thursday, April 14, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Jimmy Dyer, Roger Henson officiating. Burial was in the Milledgeville Cemetery.

In addition to his wife, Marie of Milledgeville, he is survived by two daughters, Lynn Maness of Adamsville and Ginger Almy of Nashville; one son, Michael Ernest Wells of Lewisburg, Tenn.; one step-daughter, Vickie Essary Smith of Adamsville; two step-sons, Ricky Essary of Milledgeville and Rusty Essary of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Thomas Franklin Wells; and one sister, Catherine Dalton.
