Dorothy Cook

Dorothy Marie Morgan Cook, of Savannah, was born in Lutts, Tenn., on Oct. 5, 1933, the daughter of the late Luther Taft and Letha Opal Beckham Morgan.

On July 4, 1952, she was united in marriage to James L. Cook, who preceded his wife in death on May 10, 2008.

Mrs. Cook was owner of Cooks Tavern.

She departed this life on March 21, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tenn. at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 16 days.

Mrs. Cook is survived by one daughter, Debbie Austin of Savannah; one grandchild, Donald Austin and Rose Austin; two great-grandchildren, Ashton Austin and Aden Austin; two sisters, Josephine Caperton of Savannah and Bernice Dowdy and her husband Winford of Waterloo, Ala.

Mrs. Cook is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held today, Thursday, March 24, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with David Dowdy officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens at Savannah, Tenn.
