Naomi Aiken

Services for Naomi Evelyn Goodman Aiken, age 88, of Savannah were Monday, Feb. 21, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Waynesboro with Ed Alexander officiating. Burial followed in North Highland Cemetery near Waynesboro with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Tony Ricketts, Cameron Ricketts, Ricky Battles, Greg Battles, Gary Warren, and Jerry Warren.

She died Saturday, Feb. 19, at Hardin County Nursing Home, Savannah.

A native of Wayne County, she was born June 15, 1922, a daughter of the late Charley Allen and Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Simmons Goodman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Aiken; two sons, Earl Battles and Leland Goodman; two brothers, Lester Goodman and Dewey Goodman; a sister, Jewel Lundholm; a great-grandchild, Tony Aaron Gage Allen.

She was a waitress and had worked at Clifton Manufacturing. Although a former resident of Waynesboro and Hohenwald, she had made her home in Savannah for many years where she was a member of Second Baptist Church and Savannah Home Demonstration Club.

She is survived by a son, James Allen Battles of Henderson, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Teresa Ricketts, Gindy Shelby, Ricky Battles, Greg Battles and Lisa Battles; five great-grandchildren, Jessica Hickerson, Cameron Ricketts, Brandon Battles, Dillon Allen, and Walker Allen; a sister, Ruby Perry of Savannah.
