Evelyn Barrier

Evelyn Williams Barrier was born in Waterloo, Ala., on June 26, 1928, the daughter of the late Marion Bart Williams and Mamie Cummings Williams Smithson.

In August of 1948 she was united in marriage to J. H. Barrier, who preceded his wife in death on Jan. 2, 1996.

Mrs. Barrier was a homemaker. She was a member of Second Creek Church of Christ. She loved gardening, traveling and sewing. Mrs. Barrier loved her grandkids and her family.

She departed this life on Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tenn., at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 9 days.

Mrs. Barrier is survived by one daughter, Karen Germeraad and her husband Doug of Columbia, Tenn.; three sons, Wayne Barrier and his wife Janet of Florence, Ala., Danny Barrier and his wife Barbara of Hohenwald, Tenn. and Sammy Barrier and his wife Jennifer of Columbia, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, John Paul Barrier, Joannie Duncan, Ben Barrier, Jennifer Barrier, James Barrier, Joey Barrier, Jeremy Barrier, Jesse Germeraad and Erin Germeraad; 13 great grandchildren; one sister, Faye Hawkins of Portageville, Mo.;

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Pete Williams, Hershel Williams, Bobby Williams and J. B. Smithson; and three sisters, Effie Frazier, Ethel Ratcliff and Estel Wright.

Services were held on Thursday, Jan. 6, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Danny Pettus, Larry Watkins officiating. Burial was in the Fielder Cemetery at Hardin County.
