Alma Fortune

Alma B. Fortune, of Savannah, was born in Rossville, Tenn., on Nov. 10, 1924, the daughter of the late Ernest L. and Sarah Elizabeth Hadley Wade.

On Dec. 26, 1941, she was united in marriage to Ernest Terry Fortune, who survives.

Mrs. Fortune was an administrative assistant with the Memphis City School System. She enjoyed watching sports, especially watching her son and grandchildren participate. She loved to cook and was famous for her kraut salad and pecan pies. Mrs. Fortune was a member of the Kensington Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW.

Mrs. Fortune departed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the age of 86 years, 1 month, 18 days.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Michael Terry Fortune and wife Janet A. of Savannah; two grandchildren, Jason Wade Fortune and wife Heather, Justin Warren Fortune and wife Kara; two great-grandchildren, Brandt Fortune and Brennan Fortune.

Services were held on Thursday, Dec. 30, at 1 p.m., at Memphis Memory Gardens in Memphis with John Bramlett and Luther Carlisle officiating. Burial was in the Memphis Memory Gardens at Memphis.
