Ilean Rice (12-18-10) services 12-21-10

Ilean Welch Rice, 91, of Madison, Ala., formerly of Savannah, died Saturday, Dec. 18.

She was born in Lake, Miss., the daughter of the late Seldon Sr. and Lena Wood Welch. She was united in marriage to James E. Rice Jr., who survives.

Mrs. Rice was a homemaker. She was a member of Wall Highway Baptist Church in Madison, Ala.

Services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Jason Rice officiating. Burial was in the Sardis Cemetery at Sardis, Tenn.

In addition to her husband James of Madison, Ala., she is survived by a daughter, Patricia of Madison; and three sons, Terry of New Port Richey, Fla.; Don of Board Run, Va.; and Ken of Canon City, Colo., five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, Seldon Welch Jr. of Counce; and two sisters, Irene Locke and Gweneth Tuberville, both of Iuka, Miss.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Oliver and Tom Welch; six sisters, Evelyn Rice, Helen Lane, Arzie Long, Ora Foster, Ruth Faulkner and Reubena Johnson; two infant granddaughters.
