Shirley Pickens

Shirley Ann Pickens, 83, of Savannah, died Sunday, Dec. 5.

She was born in Hayti, Mo., the daughter of the late George Walter and Shirley Ricketts Robertson. She was united in marriage to Ross Pickens, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Pickens had worked for Walker Elementary School as a cook and had also been a factory worker. She was a member of Graham Methodist Church, Woodman of the World and the Ladies’ Club.

Services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Bobby Pickens, Jim Wright officiating. Burial was in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.

She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Ross Pickens of Florence, Ala. and Donald Lee Pickens of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Brenda Ann Tedford of Savannah; a sister, Barbara Fay Petty of Savannah; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Raymond Jerrolds; two brothers, Johnny and Glenn Robertson; four sisters, May Shelby, Edith Lack, Alice Robertson and Mary Robertson; two grandchildren.
