Hershel White

Hershel White, 91, of Savannah, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the Hardin Medical Center Health and Rehabilitation Center in Savannah.

He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Robert Weak and Mattie Jane Rideout White. He was united in marriage to Norma Lee Gean, who preceded him in death.

Mr. White was a truck driver for Florence Lumber Company. He was a member of Whites Creek Freewill Baptist Church and a member of the Senior Citizens at Waterloo.

Services were held on Friday, Nov. 5, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Charles Linam officiating. Burial was in the White’s Creek Cemetery at Hardin County.

Mr. White is survived by three sons, Jerry L., Randy Glenn and Ronnie L. White, all of Savannah; one daughter, Jeanna Gail Ford of Savannah; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Myrtle Morris of Savannah and Opha Dean Davis of Florence, Ala.; and one brother, Tommy White of Florence, Ala.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Travis Wade White; one great-grandchild; four sisters, Hester Clay, Reba Brewer, Bedia Black and Maria Roberts; and three brothers, Floyd, Robert Weak Jr. and Ralph H. White.
