Dearest husband, father and friend, Donald J. Fremming, 75, entered the presence of our Heavenly Father, 11 Sept., 2010. He is survived by: his wife, Jackie Fremming; daughters, Donna Contreras and Dianne King (Greg); grandchildren, Jennifer Contreras, Spencer and Calvin King; great-granddaughter, Sophie Contreras; nieces, Judy Corcelli (Mike), Jackie Hughes (David); nephew, Bill Fremming and his children, Jennifer, Kate and Natalie; and friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his son, David J. Fremming; his parents, TA and Nan Fremming, and brother, Bob Fremming.
Early in his life, the family moved from his birthplace of Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Fairmont, Minnesota. He was a state champion gymnast and graduate of Fairmont High School. He attended Grinnell University Iowa and graduated from the University of Minnesota.
His aircraft experience began as a 15 year old with crop duster pilots in Fairmont. He became a 20 year United States Air Force world wide cargo transport pilot, flight instructor, flight examiner, initial cadre of the C-5A and then a four year aircraft maintenance officer. He piloted the first C-141 and C- 5A into Australia.
A leader, “The Frem” encouraged others to “Press on Smartly.” Following his own advice, the retired pilot became “The Mower Man,” as he volunteered the last 12 years of his life to groom God’s landscape at Grace Point Baptist Church. His heart of service, dedication and faith in God as he faced adversity, inspired and blessed those he encountered.
The funeral service was held at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, on Thursday 16 Sept., 2010, with interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, with full military honors.
Jackie Northcutt Fremming, daughter of the late Mrs. Irene Northcutt, expresses her appreciation, love, peace and blessing to numerous relatives and friends for their prayers, cards and calls during this past year.
