Glen Dancer

Glen R. Dancer, CFSP was born May 14, 1943, in Ramer, Tenn., the son of the late Herman and Cleste Kirk Dancer.

Mr. Dancer was a graduate of Ramer High School in Ramer, Tenn., and John A. Gupton College in Nashville, where he earned an Associate of Arts Degree in funeral service arts and sciences. In November of 1963, he began a career with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer, Inc. that spanned almost 47 years. He was a former member of the Selmer Masonic Lodge 743, a member of the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice, a licensed funeral director and embalmer, life insurance agent, and a certified funeral service practitioner. Mr. Dancer attended the Court Avenue Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Selmer, and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.

Mr. Dancer departed this life on Sept. 18, in Selmer, at the age of 67 years, 4 months, 4 days.

He is survived by a son, Brian Dancer and wife Reba of Hendersonville, Tenn.; a brother, Charles R. Dancer and wife Carolyn of Selmer; three step-grandchildren: Amanda, Dustin and Austin; two step-great-grandchildren, Addison and Riley; a niece, Lauren Robertson and husband Jamie of Ramer, Tenn.; a nephew, Steven Dancer and wife Tina of Madison, Miss.; four great-nephews: Landon and Braden Robertson and Taylor and Parker Dancer; two first cousins, Yolanda Lankford and Jackie Richardson, both of Ramer; and a host of extended family and friends.

Services were held on Sept. 21, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer with Ben Luttrell and Richard Doyle officiating.

Pallbearers were Jamie Robertson, Luke Richardson, Christopher Lee, Jessie Lee, John Ross Reaves, Jeremy Maness, Jon Richardson, and Buck Plunk. Honorary Pallbearers were Jimmy Dancer, Windell Payne, Dennis Payne, John Walls, Gerald Johnson, and Tommy Prather.
