Sims Barnett

Sims Barnett, 82, of Savannah, died Monday, Sept. 6.

He was born in Wayne County, the son of the late Will S. and Nellie B. Brewer Barnett. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Henley, who survives.

Mr. Barnett was a sole layer for Brown Shoe Company for 20 years. He had previously worked on a towboat for two years and had done lawn care for about 15 years. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Savannah.

Services will be held on today, Thursday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Benny Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery at Wayne County, Tenn.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kay Barnett Gravino of Lexington, S.C.; two grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two infant children, Wanda Gay Barnett and Clinton Timothy Barnett; three sisters, Verdie Beckham, Ida Mae Morgan, and Lucille House; two brothers, Melvin and Harold Barnett.
