Thomas McGrath Sr.

Thomas James McGrath Sr. was born in Chicago, Ill., on Feb. 3, 1933, the son of the late Elinor McGrath, the first female veterinarian in the United States.

Mr. McGrath had lived in Baroda, Mich. for 31 years and was self-employed as a steel hauler until illness forced him to retire. He loved feeding hummingbirds, deer, and enjoyed watching wildlife. He enjoyed yard work and was proud of his lawn.

Mr. McGrath departed this life on Saturday, Aug. 28, at the age of 77 years, 6 months, 25 days.

Mr. McGrath is survived by three daughters, Elinor Traci McGrath of Canton, Ga., Lynette Cunningham of Savannah and Patricia Moore of Bremen, Ky.; two sons, Thomas McGrath Jr. of Forth Smith, Ark. and Timothy McGrath of Sallisaw, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; ex-wife, Betty Huffchild McGrath of Adamsville; two stepsons, Blair Peckham of Savannah and Michael Peckham of Midwest City, Okla.

Visitation will be today, Thursday, Sept. 2, at Shackelford Funeral Home, from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m.
