Kenneth (Garth) Glover

Garth Glover was born in Hardin County, on June 28, 1992, the son of Sherrie Cossey McGill.

Garth was a 2010 graduate of Hardin County High School and had plans of joining the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Wards Apostolic Church, 4-H Horse Club, and Future Farmers of America. He had received many awards: first place Poultry Division Competition, first place Seed Identification, Forestry Award, and many perfect attendance awards. Garth had worked for Hardin County Stockyard for three years and for Horse Creek Wildlife Sanctuary during the summer. He enjoyed horseback riding, breaking horses, hunting, fishing, and swimming in creeks. He enjoyed working for the church and helped build and roof the fellowship hall. He loved being with friends and never met a stranger.

Garth departed this life on Friday, Aug. 27, at the age of 18 years, 1 month, 30 days.

He is survived by his mother, Sherry McGill and stepfather, Jason McGill of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; a brother, Layne Morris of Geff, Ill.; a sister, Lindsey Cossey of Geff, Ill.; a stepsister, Josey McGill of Chattanooga, Tenn.; grandparents, Johnny and Louise White, Tommy J. Cossey, all of Savannah, Frankie Beard and husband Mike of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; aunts and uncles, Angela and Michael Payne, Holly Payne and Emory Payne, all of Savannah; a host of friends and church family.

Services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 31, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Kevin Smith, Michael Payne officiating. Burial was in the White’s Creek Cemetery at Hardin County.
