Mildred Taylor

Mildred Garrard Taylor, of Savannah, was born in Clifton on June 29, 1921, the daughter of the late Charlie and Nancy Myrtle Prater Garrard.

On Dec. 5, 1936, she was united in marriage to Dankie Bud Taylor, who preceded his wife in death on Dec. 5, 1969.

Mrs. Taylor retired from Brown Shoe Company.

She departed this life on Tuesday, July 13, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tenn., at the age of 89 years and 14 days.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her daughter-in-law, Edna Taylor of Fayetteville, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Nancy Gant, Vicky Koehler, Janet Brown, Beverly White, Tony Young, Dena Hester and Phillip Taylor; seven great-grandchildren, Katie Coleman and her husband Chris, Clint, Cokie, Gage White, Tyler, Nathan Hester and Samantha Brown; two great-great-grandchildren, Kaehler and Aidan Coleman.

Mrs. Taylor was also preceded in death by two daughters, Dorothy White and Linda Young; two sons, Norman and Phillip Taylor and two infant sons; one grandchild, Sherry Taylor; and several brothers and sisters.

Services were held on Thursday, July 15, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Charles Linam officiating. Burial was in the Clifton Cemetery.
